A Makeup and Skincare Gift Guide

I'm pretty sure that the Christmas season started in October this year. At least, that's when I started noticing that stores were sellling decorations. I held off on writing this post for as long as I could, but starting to read everyone elses gift guides really got me inspired to write my own. As the beauty world is the world I know best, I thought I'd better share my biggest recommendations first.

Here you'll find a mix of products that I already own and love, and products that I would love to be gifted. I tried to keep things as "universal" as possible, but we all know that a truly universal makeup product doesn't really exist. Hopefully here you can find something that will leave a loved one very happy. If not, I hope you can at least find something to add to your own wishlist!

The It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Must Haves Brush Set was one of my favourite purchases last holiday season. It's still available now and I can't recommend them enough. They are some of the best brushes in my collection and would be a great addition to anyone's arsenal.

Too Faced always release a lot of holiday collections. They are known to be a little hit or miss quality wise, but it's definitely a great time to try minis of their more popular products. This Deluxe Better Than Sex Ornament is adorable and a great way to try out a mascara that has a loyal fanbase, myself included.

If you've read my review of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 then you know I'm completely smitten by it. The palette is not only beautiful, but the quality of the powders is next level. Definitely one of the best gifts to treat someone (or yourself, no judgement, I did) with this year.

Highlighting has been one of the biggest trends in the makeup world over the past few years and there seems to be no signs of it fading. The Mecca Cosmetica The Enlightened Trio is something I'm definitely adding to my wishlist. After completely falling in love with their illuminating balm, it will be really hard to resist picking this one up.

Stila dropped their Magnificent Metals this year and everyone seemed to immediately fall in love with them. Once I saw the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Set I knew it would be the perfect way to try them. If you have an eyeshadow or glitter lover in your life, this is a must. While writing this post I placed an order of them for myself because, well, why not?

Not every gift has to be a limited edition release or set. Christmas is a great time to share your tried and true favourites with loved ones. Nars blushes are some of the best and with so many cult favourite shades, it's hard to go wrong. There is the famous Orgasm, but if you're gifting to a relative things could get a little awkward. Madly, Lustre, Sin and Lovejoy are all beautiful options.

My favourite eyeshadow palette of all time is the
Tartelette In Bloom Palette. That might make me slightly biased, but I couldn't think of a better gift. Perfect for someone just starting out with makeup or looking to expand their collection. If you're looking to gift eyeshadows, the Huda Beauty Obsessions eyeshadow palettes have just launched. I've seen a lot of people I follow on Instagram give them good reviews. and the Smokey one has captured my interest.

Fenty Beauty was one of the biggest launches of the year. Not only are their Killawat Freestyle Highlight Duos pretty to look at, but they look great on the skin as well. With one subtle side and one blinding side, you've got your bases covered. They have a few different shade options, with colours to suit a range of skintones from fair to dark. The shade pictured is Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal.

If you're thinking of gifting skincare instead, I have got you covered! For stocking stuffers, sheet masks are always a good idea. My favourite ones are by Mizon. They have a range of different kinds, they're all affordable and leave your skin looking refreshed. Every time I'm in Mecca I grab about five of them.

Drunk Elephant has been the skincare brand that has flooded my IG feed this year, so I couldn't help but trying a few of their products. People have touted their Glycolic night serum as being their holy grail skincare product, but I didn't notice huge results with it. They currently have a set available of their core products. As skincare products work differently for everyone, this is a really great way to try a range of products without committing to one that doesn't work for you. Not only are they all adorable, but I love the idea of gifting someone a product that they might end up sticking with for years.

I recently picked up the Blue Tansy mask by Herbivore Botanicals. This stuff is magical, seriously. I love it so much that I might just gift it to everyone I know. If you're looking for filtered looking skin, or you know someone that is, If you're in the US they have this set available if you don't want to dive in on the full size!

Speaking of masks, Origins have a mini set of some of their masks available. There are four to try and it includes one of my holy grail skincare products, their Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask. I think this is one of the most reasonably priced sets this year, especailly for us in Australia.

If you're looking to gift a fragrance to someone, Maybe Baby by Benefit is a great option. Their fragrances are a little under the radar, but they smell incredible. It's top notes are white ginger and apricot, so it's a little fruity and a hint musky. I've been wearing this perfume on and off since I was in high school, I just keep coming back to it. I believe it used to be discontinued, so the second I saw it in stores after being without it for a couple of years I basically jumped for joy and picked it up right away.

It wouldn't be a beauty gift guide without a little Lush. They always deliver around the holiday season. There are more affordable options, like this Rosy Christmas pack. They also have bigger sets, including their Christmas Candy Box and Jolly Hollydays box. If you're truly stumped about what to get someone, Lush is hard to go wrong with.

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading this gift guide. What beauty items do you think would make great gifts this holiday season? I have a Lifestyle & Homewear guide in the works, so stay tuned x
