Dose Of Colors Lip It Up Satin Lipstick Review

It didn't take much for me to decide I wanted to pick up some of the new Lip It Up Satin Lipsticks by Dose of Colors. In fact, all it took was seeing a few bloggers swatch them on Snapchat. I mean, an entire line of neutral "bullet" lipsticks in pretty rose gold packaging? Sign me up.

I headed over to YouTube and watched a few lip swatch videos to decide which shades to pick out. Butterscotch is a very light and peachy nude, Toast is a mid-toned warm brown and Mocha is a deeper, purple based brown. All three are beautiful and wearable.

On the Dose of Colors website, they describe these lipsticks as a richly pigmented formula, in-between a matte and creamy finish which is completely accurate. You can reach full opacity with one swipe. The shape of the lipstick is different to most, but it really makes applying the product easy. You can achieve a crisp line with little effort, which is always a bonus for me.

The formula is incredibly long lasting, I can get away with only reapplying once in a 12 hour period. They also don't dry out the lips or fade unevenly. The only thing I don't love about these lipsticks is that the product isn't shielded when you remove the cap. So unless you're being careful when you're taking it off, it's quite easy to dint the lipstick. As you can see in the picture below I had a little accident with Toast the first time I opened it.

I picked three shades to see how they performed across the spectrum, light to deep. Often with lipsticks light shades will perform differently to darker shades within the same line. I was so happy when the pigmentation, wear time and slight creaminess was exactly the same for each shade. Because they all performed so well, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up any other shades that appeal to me (all of them, basically).

The Lip It Up Satin Lipsticks have been my first introduction to Dose Of Colors and I am so happy that I picked them up. They definitely stand up to my beloved Charlotte Tilbury and Mac lipsticks and have opened my eyes up to this brand.

Thank you so much for reading! x

  2. I have these on my wishlist so I'm happy to read you loved them! I'm totally obsessed with Toast - it's right up my alley and looks like a gorgeous nude for my skin tone! Such a shame the lipstick's exposed though - I can already see myself ruining it.
