Milani Haul, Review and Swatches

If your Instagram feed is anything like mine, then you've been seeing Milani everywhere. Their blushes, bronzers and highlighters seem to be in every other flatlay I see. I was going to say that I'm only human, and that I can only look at something so pretty for so long until I need it. But I think that makes me more like a magpie seeing a shiny object. So, I guess I'm only magpie.

I spent what felt like hours looking up swatches of their baked and rose blushes. It got to the point where I wanted all of them, because, well, look at them. After having a stern talking to myself about how I don't even have room for that many new blushes, I narrowed my list.

Blossomtime Rose, Hermosa Rose, Luminoso, Dolce Pink
I decided upon two of their Baked Blushes, Dolce Pink and the famous Luminoso. I picked Blossomtime Rose from their Rose blush line and Hermosa Rose from their Illuminating Face Powders. I've given them all a good amount of use now and I can really see why they get so much love online.

Blossomtime Rose is a peachy pink with a golden sheen. On the cheek there isn't any visible glitter, instead you're left with a luminous and healthy looking subtle glow. I find this blush to be quite pigmented, but with a light hand it can look incredibly natural. This was the one I was least excited about in my order, but I think it's my favourite.

Dolce Pink is lighter in colour than Dolce Pink, but with more shimmer. This is the kind of blush that makes your skin look hydrated and dewy, after applying it I totally understood why their Baked Blushes are so loved. I apply this and Luminoso with a Mac 187 brush, which is my favourite for pigmented or shimmery blushes.

Luminoso is what I placed this order for. Every review I read raved about the shade, so I had to try it for myself. On my skin it is a warm apricot shade with a beautiful sheen. I have to use the lightest hand with this one because it's so pigmented. It's so pretty that I've found myself just swatching it when I walk past my makeup.

Hermosa Rose is one of Milani's Illuminating Face Powders, but I use this as a bronzer. It's a gorgeous shade, but very subtle. In the swatch below I built it up quite heavily to get it to show up on camera. It may sound like a negative, but if you're fair like me, it makes for a great light bronzer. If you're deeper, you could use it as a finishing powder, blush or highlight as it has a subtle luminosity.

I didn't want to only pick up face powders, but I also wasn't sure what shade I'd be in their foundations and concealers, and I certainly don't need any lip products at the moment.

I ordered this haul through Beautyjoint and as I was scrolling through their products I saw two primers. I've heard great things about their Eyeshadow Primer, so I added that straight to my cart. Then I saw their Hydrating and Pore Minimising Primer and added it as well.

The only other Eyeshadow Primer I've used is by Urban Decay, and honestly I find this one to be so much better. It has a squeeze applicator instead of a wand, so it doesn't get as messy. Plus, I noticed my eyeshadow applies nicer and lasts longer. For a fraction of the price, this was a total win.

The Face Primer was the only let down of this haul. Hydrating and Pore Minimising is everything I want in a primer, but unfortunately this didn't do either. It has a slight menthol smell and a gritty, sand-like texture. I'm almost not sure if I may have gotten an expired one, because I can't imagine that it's intended to be that way. It didn't make my makeup last longer either.

Overall, I'm really impressed with my Milani haul. I love almost every item I got. All of the powder products last all day on my skin, they're easy to work with and just so beautiful. They're the best drugstore blushes I've ever tried. Do you own any Milani products? Is there anything else from them I need to add to my collection?

    1. Totally agree! So many times it feels like brands pass on pretty packaging to keep products affordable, or that they use pretty packaging as a reason to have the price be higher. Love that Milani give us both <3

  5. I have a Milani Blush but I wasn't overly keen on it, I didn't feel like the pigmentation was very good but I'm open to try more. I'd love to try a highlighter or bronzer as I'm looking to test more bronzers instead of keeping to my trusty one!

    1. Oh, that's a shame! The ones I have pack a lot of pigment so I have to be really careful when using them.

  7. Such a shame but I only have two Milani products - a single eyeshadow and a lip gloss. But both of them are really good. I've been trying to get the other Milani products, and I think those blushes would be good!
