The Winter Beauty Edit

For complete and total sunshine lovers like me, winter isn't the most fun. I don't really like rain, or being cold, or the shorter daylight hours. But this year I'm going to try to make the most of it (we're only two weeks in, let's see how I'm feeling in two months time). In my quest to embrace winter I'm going to share my favourite makeup products for this time of the year.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia
This foundation is a winner all year round for me, but it really stands out in winter. My skin always gets a little drier when it gets colder, so I tend to stick to foundations that don't ephasise it. The Sheer Glow has earned it's cult status and continues to be a foundation that works wonders on my skin.

My lips don't really like liquid lipsticks at the best of times and in winter they really don't get along. The Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip formula is generally as matte as I can bare in this weather. Frick N' Frack is a deep reddish-rose on my skin and is the perfect cold weather colour.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colour in Sand
This has been living in my bag since I got it. It's a perfect hydrating wash of colour that doesn't bleed or require a mirror to apply. It's perfect for on-the-go busy days. It does have quiet a strong fruity scent, but it doesn't linger on the lips so it doesn't bother me at all.
I know this blush can look a little intimidating, in the pan it looks like such a deep purple. But it's magic on the skin. It has cool undertones but a warm sheen and makes for the most beautiful mauve-plum. With a light hand it works for my fair skin, and it looks so good on deeper skin too.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed
During summer my skin leans much more normal than dry, but during winter I need to take all the steps I can to ensure I don't end up with dry patches on my face. This powder blurs my pores without emphasising any dryness. I hit pan on it a month or so ago and will probably completely finish it by the time winter is over.

From top to bottom: Becca Pearl, Urban Decay Rapture, Revlon Sand and Colourpop Frick N' Frack
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Pearl
When any final hints of a summer tan are gone, Pearl is my go to highlight. Becca's range of pressed powder highlights are no joke and there is something for almost every skin tone. During the colder months I tend to aim for less all-over dewy skin, instead opting to have the glow in specific areas.

Tarte Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette
I love Tarte eyeshadows and the colour selection in the Tartelette palette are so perfect for winter. The shadows last all day on my eyes and are so easy to work with. I love all matte palettes, especially when getting ready for work in the morning. If I decide I want some shimmer in the mix I just reach for a Colourpop Super Shock shadow and I'm good to go.

Do you have any must-have products for winter?

What's your opinion?

  1. It's so strange reading this as it's summer here. Although in the U.K. I'm not sure our summers are passable as summer! Loved the post though so many bits I love and use throughout winter as well!

  2. The UD blush looks gorgeous, I LOVE the color <3

  3. That tarte eye shadow palette looks so awesome. I've been eyeing their in the bloom palette for so long. Thinking of treating myself to it.

    1. They're both great palettes! The In Bloom is my all time favourite :)

  4. Great post! I love my Sheer Glow foundation. I really want to try some more products from Tarte though, I need one of their eyeshadow palettes in my life! I have the shape tape concealer and it's my absolute fave.
