My Holy Grail Makeup Products

I love knowing what products other people are loving, what's worth the money and the hype. So I wanted to share with you my ultimate favourites. The 'desert island' products. The products that work best for my skin and that I enjoy using most.

I've watched so many 'Holy Grail' and 'Ride or Die' videos on Youtube, dozens of blog posts and finally decided to share mine! I chose one product from each category (one liquid lipstick, one bronzer, etc) and it was so much easier than I thought it would be! I figured I would be sitting for hours, pondering which lip gloss really is my number one. But I guess, when it comes down to it, picking favourites isn't hard. I guess that's the difference between makeup and children. At least, that's what my mum would say.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask: this is the only skincare product I decided to include in this post. If could only use one skincare product, (not counting makeup wipes and sunscreen) it would be this. This took my skin from dry and flakey to glowy and smooth. I haven't had a single dry patch since this worked it's way into my routine. Total miracle for my skin.

Mac Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Primer (Radiant Yellow): If you could combine all my other favourite primers into one, this would be what you're left with. It hydrates the skin while blurring all of my pores. It noticeably increases the wear time of my foundation. It even lightly balances out my redness. Every foundation in my collection works with this primer. Also, you get more product than you do in most other primers (50ml compared to 30ml).

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector: My under eyes are a nightmare. Not only are they dark (like, really, really dark) but they have deep sunken in lines that go down to the apples of my cheeks. It took me a long time to realise I had to be realistic about what foundation, concealers and colour correctors could do. They can get rid of most of the darkness, but those lines are there to stay. This corrector from Becca covers the discolouration and makes me look more awake. It's quite lightweight and sits beautifully underneath foundation.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation (NC10): I'm not sure what it is about this foundation, but it just works for my skin. It never looks cakey, adds the perfect amount of coverage and lasts all day. This has been my go-to for years and I can't see it ever not having a spot in my collection.

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer (Fair Neutral): It's ridiculous how fast this jumped to being my favourite. I've only had this for a few weeks, but no other concealer has ever looked this good on my skin! It's super full coverage but it creamy enough to not look dry or cakey. It blends really easily and doesn't emphasise texture. I really only picked it up to see if it was worth all of the hype it had been getting and oh my god is it ever.

Mac Prep + Prime Fix +: This has been part of my routine every time I've put on makeup since I got it. Spraying it on once you're finished your makeup gets rid of any powderiness. Spraying it on an eyeshadow brush to make metallic shadows pop. Even putting it on when you don't have any makeup on just to freshen up your face. I can't get enough of Fix Plus.

Nars Bronzing Powder (Laguna): There isn't anything I could say about this bronzer that hasn't been said     before. There is a subtle shimmer that makes your     skin glow. The powder can be built up from a wash   of  colour to a really sunkissed bronze. The powder   blends so easily. I can't fault it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator (So Hollywood):  If I could only have one highlighter in the world, it  would be this one. Aside from the stunning design, it  just looks pheonomenal on the skin. It's not glittery,  but a really true glow. I prefer a natural looking  highlight, but if you don't, this can easily be built up  to blind.

Nars Blush (Sex Appeal): If your skin gives Snow  White a run for her money, this is the blush for you.  It's the perfect pale peach and just gives the perfect  hint of colour to the cheeks.

Too Faced Love Blush Blush (Baby Love): Blush is  my favourite makeup to buy and wear, so choosing  just one was never going to happen. Baby Love is a  gorgeous warm, pinky nude that adds so much life to my face. The stupidly cute compact doesn't hurt either!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation (Shadow): In the past year I have really grown to love cream blushes, bronzers and contour products. This foundation stick is my favourite for contouring. It's so easy to swipe on and it blends out perfectly. Because the shade isn't too cool, I can bronze with it to, which makes it such a good two-in-one and perfect for travel! It being a cream product makes it look incredibly natural, so my cheeks look angular and defined without it being obvious that I've contoured. I can't rave about this enough!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Mood Light): This is my absoloute favourite setting powder. I got this almost two years ago and it's still going strong. It leaves your skin looking radiant and healthy while keeping your makeup in place. The shade isn't perfect for me, I got it when I thought I was cool toned (I know I'm not the only one that struggled with undertones) so when I run out I'll be getting a different shade. Even the colour being slightly off for me doesn't stop me from using it daily, it's just that good.

Colourpop Lippie Pencil: My absoloute favourite lip liners! They are creamy, long lasting and so easy to apply. You don't have to tug at your lips to get them to apply, but you're still able to get a clean line. They also have a wide selection of colours and are so affordable!

Mac Lipstick: It's kind of impossible to go wrong with Mac lipsticks. They come in so many different finishes and formulas that there really is something for everyone. From sheer and shiny to opaque and matte, they do it all. My all time favourite shades are Velvet Teddy, Faux and Politely Pink.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: Now, admittedly, I am not the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks. My lips are super prone to dryness so I prefer a standard bullet lipstick. That hasn't stopped me from aquiring a decent collection of them, and at the top of the pack are these from Kat Von D. These are some of the only ones that don't crumble on me and leave my lips in need of a lot of TLC.

NYX Butter Gloss: Affordable, not sticky, just the right amount of colour and they smell like a bakery. What's not to love? These are right in the middle when it comes to opacity, and as a result they wear off in a really flattering way. The only downside is that applying them makes me want to eat an entire cake.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (Medium Brown): This was the hardest for me to decide on, Brow Wiz or Dip Brow? While I really love both, Brow Wiz just got the win for me. It's just so quick and easy to use, plus Medium Brown is the perfect colour match for my brows.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel: If your brows are anything like mine, they need help staying put. My brow hairs are long and thick, so without a gel they just don't stay put throughout the day. Luckily this stuff holds them in place all day without making them look or feel crunchy.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner (Trooper): It's not that often that I wear eyeliner, but when I do it's this. It makes getting a nice wing not as much of a daunting task, which is all I could really ask for.

Tarte Tartelette In Bloom Palette: If I had to get rid of all of my palettes except for one, this is the one I'd keep. It has everything I need for a day time and a full glam look. The packaging is incredibly sturdy (and so pretty), so I can travel with it, which is a huge bonus for me. The shadows are all pigmented and easy to blend. It really is a great all-rounder.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I heard a lot of mixed reviews before picking this up. I think it's one of those products that you either love or hate. Luckily for me, I love it. It adds an incredible amount of volume to my lashes, which is what I look for. My lashes are naturally pretty long, so I don't really need a lot of length. I've heard people say that this flakes on them, but it doesn't at all for me. It's been my go-to since I got and it hasn't let me down once.

Phew! That was so much longer than I thought it would be! What are your Holy Grail makeup products?

  4. I love these kind of posts!! There's lots of my faves on here too plus things I want to try so it's interesting when I see things I've had my eye on appear on someone's list of products they're enjoying. Hourglass powders are just amazing aren't they? When my palette runs out I'm heading for Dim Light without a doubt. Great post x
