Colourpop Haul, Review and Swatches

Now I know I'm not the only one, but I am involved in a serious love affair with Colourpop. Since they released their pressed powder shadows I've been looking for a reason to do an order, and the release of their Highlighter Trios was the perfect excuse. I've had Stole The Show in my collection for quite some time and have loved it to death, so when I saw the cute packaging of their trios I couldn't resist. I had also been dying to try out their Lippie Stix as just about everyone I follow on Instagram has been raving about them for so long.

Colourpop pressed shadow swatches: Note To Self, Paper Tiger, Play By Play, Wake Up Call
Ever since the release of their pressed eyeshadows I've been tempted to place an order. Even thought it's still quite a new product from Colourpop, they already have quite a full range of shades to choose from. They've been consistently releasing new options since their launch so I'm really proud of myself for only choosing four! They come in at $5 USD a pop, so they are very affordable. In quality they are very comparable to my Anastasia Beverly Hills single shadows. They're highly pigmented, soft and easy to blend. They kick up about the same level of shadow as my ABH ones do, but not as much as my KVD Shade Light and Eye palette does. Kick back doesn't bother me at all, so it's not a negative for me. These shadows last all day on me without a primer, but most shadows do.

Note To Self is a gorgeous warm brown that you can't really go wrong with. I love to use it to deepen up a look while still being work appropriate.

Paper Tiger was the shade that influenced my other choices. It was the one I knew I wanted most, so I picked the other shades to be a complimentary quad. It's a gorgeous warm mustard that adds dimension to a neutral look and looks gorgeous as a crease colour for something a little different.

Play By Play is a really unique shade. It is described as a duochrome peach with a green/gold shift. At some angles it reads as a gold shadow with lime green shimmer and at others it looks like a peach shadow with gold shimmer.

Wake Up Call is my perfect 'one and done' shade. It's a total dupe for ABH 'Birkin' and is my favourite for packing all over the lid and blending out for a quick and easy eye look.

Colourpop Waffle Highlighter Trio swatches, top to bottom: Scrumptious, Glazed, Flexitarian
I already knew that I loved the formula of the Colourpop highlighters. They are soft, creamy and blend effortlessly into the skin with a Beautyblender. They can go from a natural sheen to a more intense glow depending on how much you build up the product. The Waffle Trio contains three shades, two new (Scrumptious and Glazed) and one existing (Flexitarian).

Scrumptious is a soft pink with a silvery sheen. If you are pale and cool toned this will be perfect for you! I lean more neutral/yellow and it still works quite well for me.

Glazed is a gorgeous tie dye highligter, so each one will be a little different. Mine has a little more of the bronze shade in it, which is perfect for my skin this time of year. As summer has just finished I'm pretty much as dark as I get (about NC15) and it's extremely complimentary.

Flexitarian is the already existing shade in this trio and definitely the most metallic looking. It can still be easily sheered out with a light hand, but if you like your highlight blinding, this is the one for you!

All shades can be purchased individually for $8 USD each or together for $22 USD. If you're into a creamier formula for your highlights then these definitely can't be beaten for the price.

Colourpop Lippie Stix swatches, top to bottom: She Bad, Tootsi, Pillow Talk
I knew that when I did this order I would be including a few Lippie Stix. I can't even tell you the amount of times I've seen them on my Instagram feed with people raving about how amazing the Matte and Matte X formula is. Now I totally understand the hype, She Bad and Pillow Talk, both Matte X have the same longevity and finish of a good liquid lipstick without any of the discomfort. The Matte formula that Tootsi has is very similar, with a little less wear time. However, I have found that this shade wears off a little more evenly. Both formulas and all three shades are incredible and I know it won't be long until I'm looking at swatches to try to figure out which ones I want next. At $5 USD each I know I'll end up ordering way more than I need!

This order did nothing but further cement Colourpop as a really solid brand to me. I've yet to try a brand at their price point with so many good products. I know it can be a little tricky to order from online only brands (none of their lip swatches ever look the same on me as they do on the models) but it's worth looking through Instagram and blog posts to find the right shades for you.

    1. Tootsi is so pretty! Quite versatile too, if you apply it lightly it looks really sheer and pretty. Building it up makes it look quite grungy and fun. I love it!
